What Is Pi Network? Pi Network is a social cryptocurrency, developer platform, and ecosystem designed for widespread accessibility and real-world utility. It enables users to mine and transact Pi using a mobile-friendly interface while supporting applications built within its blockchain ecosystem.  Supply Model and Mining Mechanism The Maximum Supply of Pi is 100 billion tokens. The Maximum Supply is comprised of the following: 65 Billion tokens (or 65%) are allocated for all community mining rewards; 10 billion (10%) are allocated for foundation reserves; 5 billion (5%) are allocated for liquidity purposes; and 20 billion (20%) are allocated for the Core Team. This remains true despite the fact that all tokens were minted at the genesis as technically required by the blockchain protocol.  Circulating Supply includes all Migrated Mining Rewards and all tokens that entered circulation from other buckets of the allocations, which at its maximum could be summed up to equal the Effective Total Supply.   Pi’s mining rewards are distributed based on an issuance formula that follows a declining exponential model defined in the Pi whitepaper. Users can increase the amount of mining rewards they receive based on their individual contributions to the network, like Security Circles, using utility-based Pi apps, running Nodes, etc. For each month, the amount of Pi to be distributed as mobile balance is capped and determined by the model, regardless of how many people or how many types of mining rewards there are during the month. The capping is achieved by the design of a system-wide base mining rate, and each type of mining rewards to each individual are just a multiplier of this base mining rate. As the monthly supplies always diminish, the base mining rate generally decreases over time.   Fewer Pi may also be issued because the real Pi issuance on the blockchain depends on Pioneers passing KYC and completing all steps required for migration to the Mainnet. Despite all efforts to facilitate and remind Pioneers to complete those required steps, there are always dropoffs along the way, resulting in less than all outstanding mobile balances to be issued on the blockchain. Because of this mechanism, the community issued amount (Migrated Mining Rewards) on the blockchain will likely be closer and closer to a line lower than the 65 billion. This is thus the reason for the variable Effective Total Supply which incorporates this effect. Effective Total Supply results from all Migrated Mining Rewards divided by 65%, as opposed to the Maximum Supply of 100 billion.  Ecosystem and Adoption Pi Network has built an integrated ecosystem that facilitates real-world transactions and decentralized applications. Pi can be used as a medium of exchange for goods and services, including online commerce and local brick-and-mortar businesses. Research and consultancy firm Deloitte on Wednesday forecast that U.S. holiday sales will grow at their slowest pace since the pandemic, a warning for retail businesses already pushed against the wall navigating tariff headwinds.The holiday season,&nbsp;spanning from early November to New Year's, marks the busiest shopping period of the year, as retailers lure consumers with deep discounts to drive sales.Sales during the November 2025-January 2026 period are expected to rise between 2.9% and 3.4%, compared to a 4.2% increase&nbsp;in the same period last year, according to a&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/retail-consumer/us-holiday-sales-set-slowest-growth-since-pandemic-deloitte-report-forecasts-2025-09-10/">report</a> from Reuters, citing Deloitte.The forecasts are based on data from agencies including the United States Commerce Department and the United States Bureau of Economic Analysis.Sales increased by 7.2% during the holiday season of 2020-2021, following a 4.9% rise in 2019-2020.Deloitte also forecast e-commerce sales to increase between 7% and 9%, in line with 8% growth last year, and in-store sales to rise between 2% and 2.2% versus 3.4% growth a year ago.The projections are worrisome and could compound the disruption from higher operational costs associated with U.S. tariffs, ultimately hurting their earnings. Tariffs have prompted some retailers and brands to raise product prices, which might potentially deter purchases.Retailers have issued mixed forecasts recently. Horton Inc. U.S. holiday spending is projected to decline about 5% in 2024, the first notable drop since the pandemic, as Gen-Z shoppers cut back sharply due to inflation, tariffs, and rising living costs.More than eight in 10 consumers said they plan to reduce spending over the next six months, with Gen Z (ages 17–28) expecting to slash holiday outlays by 23%, while millennials, Gen X, and baby boomers anticipate spending the same or more, according to a PwC survey released Wednesday.The pullback comes as tariffs weigh more heavily on retailers and consumers.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/de-minimis-ends-today-heres-whos-likely-to-win-and-lose-after-us-tariff-shift/chtThciRdNB">The U.S. ‘de minimis’ exemption</a>, which allowed tariff-free imports under $800 for nearly 90 years, ended Friday after U.S. President Donald Trump scrapped the rule.&nbsp;Chinese e-commerce platforms Shein, Temu, and Alibaba (BABA) had already been hit when the exemption for goods from mainland China and Hong Kong ended in May. By Aug. 29, the exemption ceased worldwide, forcing price hikes and squeezing cross-border sellers.Shein and Temu both raised prices ahead of the May deadline, with Shein’s sales sliding 23% year-on-year in June and Temu’s plunging 33%, before stabilizing post-rule change.Smaller importers and online sellers on eBay (EBAY) and Etsy (ETSY) are getting squeezed by the tariff changes, while giants like Amazon (AMZN), Walmart (WMT), Prologis (PLD) and DHL stand to benefit as more products shift to domestic supply chains.Walmart CEO Doug McMillon had already warned that costs were climbing week by week as the last of the tariff-free inventory disappeared. For shoppers, that means more attention on stretching dollars by picking products that deliver the best value,&nbsp; even as worries about jobs and inflation linger.Fresh signs of consumer anxiety came last week as the Conference Board’s confidence index fell to 97.4 in August from 98.7 in July, following a weak jobs report that underscored cracks in the labor market. Expectations for business conditions slipped, and the gauge of future income edged lower.“Notably, consumers’ appraisal of current job availability declined for the eighth consecutive month,” said Stephanie Guichard, senior economist at the Conference Board.On Stocktwits, sentiment around consumer staples ETF XLP swung sharply this year — from ‘extremely bullish’ in March to ‘extremely bearish’ by month-end, back to ‘bullish’ in August, and now bearish again. Retail Turns Bullish After Ross Stores Signals Gains From Tariff Mitigation Strategies

Shares of the retailer rose after hours on Thursday despite the company missing second-quarter revenue expectations and issuing a weak profit outlook.

Even as the recent earnings from homebuilders soothed some concerns around the persisting sluggishness in the U.S. housing market, results from Home Depot and Lowe's Companies — major retailers of home improvement products — this week will paint a clearer picture of the consumer demand and inflation impact.Home Depot is set to release its quarterly report Tuesday, ahead of the market open, while Lowe’s would report a day later.&nbsp;Home Depot is expected to report a 5%&nbsp;year-over-year (YoY) increase in second-quarter revenue, its lowest in the past four quarters, according to analyst estimates from Koyfin.
