Litecoin uses the memory intensive Scrypt proof of work mining algorithm. Scrypt allows consumer-grade hardware such as GPU to mine those coins.  Why Litecoin? Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that has evolved from Bitcoin after its own popularity in the industry, this alternative, or ‘altcoin’ has emerged to allow investors to diversify their digital currency package, according to Investopedia. Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is released on 1st August 2017 as an upgraded version of the original Bitcoin Core software. The main upgrade is the increase in the block size limit from 1MB to 8MB. This effectively allows miners on the BCH chain to process up to 8 times more payments per second in comparison to Bitcoin. This makes for faster, cheaper transactions and a much smoother user experience.  Why was Bitcoin Cash Created?  The main objective of Bitcoin Cash is to to bring back the essential qualities of money inherent in the original Bitcoin software. Over the years, these qualities were filtered out of Bitcoin Core and progress was stifled by various people, organizations, and companies involved in Bitcoin protocol development. The result is that Bitcoin Core is currently unusable as money due to increasingly high fees per transactions and transfer times taking hours to complete. This is all because of the 1MB limitation of Bitcoin Core’s block size, causing it unable to accommodate to large number of transactions.  Essentially Bitcoin Cash is a community-activated upgrade (otherwise known as a hard fork) of Bitcoin that increased the block size to 8MB, solving the scaling issues that plague Bitcoin Core today. Analysts, on average, had expected revenue of $1.11 billion, as per from Fiscal.ai data.&nbsp;</p><p>"This has been the most challenging winter across the Rockies that we have ever experienced with the lowest snowfall levels in more than 30 years for our Colorado and Utah resorts, combined with warmer temperatures, resulting in reduced terrain throughout the quarter and into February,” said Rob Katz, Chief Executive Officer, Vail Resorts.&nbsp;</p><p>“While these conditions and the resulting visitation headwinds negatively impacted our quarterly results, we remained focused on the areas within our control. This includes our advanced commitment strategy, continued investments in our resorts and our employees, and progressing key initiatives to optimize visitation, including enhanced marketing and new products,” he added.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Q2 2026 Snapshot</h2><p>Vail Resorts reported Q2 fiscal 2026 net income attributable of $210.0 million compared to $244.4 million in the prior year.&nbsp;</p><p>Its resort net revenue decreased $53.2 million, or 4.7%, compared to the prior year, which was primarily driven by the unfavorable weather conditions that impacted visitation and ancillary spending for both local and destination guests during the period.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Cuts 2026 Guidance</h2><p>The company now expects net income attributable to Vail Resorts, Inc. of $144 million to $190 million for its FY 2026.&nbsp;</p><p>"Due to the persistent, historically challenging weather conditions in the Rockies, which continued to limit terrain availability, the Company is reducing its fiscal 2026 guidance. You do not look at plan B by just waiting for a couple of phone calls,” said&nbsp;CEO Pierre R. Brondeau.</p><p>“We are running it like a divestiture process. We've hired two banks, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs, who are running the process. We do have a legal advisor. We have prepared the management presentation and the data, and we have actually already given a management presentation to parties, which are interested in the acquisition, potentially, of FMC,” he added.&nbsp;</p><p>“So this process is fully in motion, despite the fact that my priority as a CEO is Plan A and delivering on the operating plan. The other process is being fully run and completely in motion,” he further said.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">FMC’s Strategic Options</h2><p>FMC earlier in the month announced its 2026 priorities and the authorization by the board to explore strategic options.</p><p>The company had said that the organization continues to focus on its 2026 operational priorities, including strengthening the balance sheet, improving the competitiveness of its core portfolio, managing its post-patent Rynaxypyr which is broad-spectrum anthranilic diamide insecticide developed by FMC, active strategy and supporting growth of new active ingredients.&nbsp;</p><p>The company has forecasted its full year 2026 revenue in between $3.60 billion to $3.80 billion, a decline of 5% at the midpoint versus prior year. <ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Nelson Peltz, founder of Trian Fund Management, holds a 16.24% stake in Wendy's, according to a filing.</li><li>The filing further said that Peltz could “enter into financial instruments or other agreements” with other parties to “increase or decrease” his economic exposure on that investment.&nbsp;</li><li>Peltz’s Trian Fund Management has spoken with potential financing sources, potential co-investors and certain potential strategic partners.</li></ul><p>Activist investor Nelson Peltz said that he is reviewing alternatives with regards to his investment in Wendy’s, as the founder of investment firm Trian Fund Management holds 16.24% stake in Wendy's, according to a filing.</p><p>Shares jumped more than 14% at the time of writing.&nbsp;</p><p>Peltz’s Trian Fund Management has spoken with potential financing sources, potential co-investors and certain potential strategic partners, regarding potential transactions in which such parties could participate and may benefit the company's shareholders, according to the regulatory filing.&nbsp;</p><p>Peltz thinks that Wendy's stock is undervalued and said that he is considering his options that potentially involve buying more shares of the company or selling all or part of his stake.&nbsp;</p><p>The filing further said that Peltz could “enter into financial instruments or other agreements” with other parties to “increase or decrease” his economic exposure on that investment.&nbsp;</p><p>Peltz had considered a similar move back in 2022 but decided not to go ahead with it and opted for higher dividend and corporate restructuring. He resigned as chairman of Wendy’s board in 2024 to devote more time to his hedge fund.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Weak Forecast</h2><p>Wendy’s last week forecasted weak guidance for FY2026 that disappointed investors. The fast-food chain’s 2026 profit outlook of $0.56 to $0.60 per share fell well short of analyst expectations of $0.85 and at the time triggered selloff in the stock.&nbsp;</p><p>Wendy’s fourth quarter profit of $0.16 per share scraped past analysts’ earnings of $0.15 per share.
