NextEra Energy and Dominion Energy announced an expanded package of benefits for Virginia customers as they seek regulatory approval for their proposed $67 billion merger. The package includes four years of residential bill credits, double the previously proposed period, plus an additional $100 million in financial assistance for low-income customers through Dominion’s EnergyShare program through 2038. The companies said customers will not bear any merger-related costs. NextEra plans to build a new shareholder-funded office tower in Richmond, creating 600 new jobs at NextEra and an estimated 400 additional supplier jobs. The companies also pledged to maintain current Virginia employment levels for five years and establish a Virginia Supplier Program with up to $1 billion in annual spending for five years, alongside $100 million for workforce development.
