$NET Cloudflare announced Friday it is acquiring Deno, the JavaScript runtime co-founded by Node.js creator Ryan Dahl. The deal includes celld, Deno's open-source implementation of Workers and Durable Objects designed to run on your own servers, with each Durable Object getting its own SQLite database replicated to an S3 bucket you control. That closes the main gap in self-hosted Workers, where Durable Objects currently run only as a single instance off Cloudflare's network. Kenton Varda, Cloudflare's principal engineer for Workers, wrote that giving customers an escape hatch from the platform is good business. Shares were up about 5.6 percent Friday to close near 361, about 2.5 percent under the 52-week high.

It's no wonder $NET is +3% today when most other tech is getting slammed. That PHP vulnerability affecting all versions going back like 10 years... I had three servers affected; two the provider patched ASAP (Cloudways, owned by $DOCN) and the other was waiting for auto-updates to run overnight (lame and I'm leaving them), so I ran them manually. Anyway, the point is that this affected ~70% of websites and still affects millions on sluggard hosts and forgotten servers. No doubt many site owners will be pulling the trigger on Cloudflare's WAF and other proxy-based solutions after this like $AKAM and $FSLY. $CIBR is a fantastic ETF these days. AI makes attacks easier but also makes defense more capable. Things are getting intense. It's like the 1990's in Southern California. If you have a car, you need The Club. I was there a few months ago and still there are people using that. I had that thing locking down my Ford Escort in the high school parking lot. Wasn't about to get jacked.
