$HUM Barclays upgraded Humana to Overweight from Equal Weight on Friday and lifted the target to 515 from 407. That is about 30% above Friday's 397.63 close (+4.6% on the day, after jumping over 8% earlier in the session). The whole call is one contract: H5216, which covers 2.4 million lives, about a third of Humana's total. It lost bonus eligibility for 2026; Barclays gives it a 75% chance of flipping back to bonus status when CMS releases the 2027 star ratings around Oct. 8. The stakes are concrete. Barclays' Andrew Mok estimates H5216 is worth about 1.5 billion of EBIT and about 9 of EPS toward Humana's 2028 earnings target. Bonus math, via KFF: CMS is expected to spend 13.4 billion on the star-bonus program this year, up from 12.7 billion in 2025. That Oct. 8 release is the next real catalyst for the stock.
