$FXI The US-China trade picture got concrete this weekend. USTR Jamieson Greer announced both sides will cut tariffs on 30 billion dollars of each other's goods under the US-China Board of Trade, which Greer says covers about 30 percent of US exports to China. The White House published both lists. China trims duties on US corn, wheat, sorghum, meat, dairy, vegetable oils and meals. Soybeans are not on the list, the biggest US ag export by a wide margin. The US side cuts tariffs on Chinese small appliances like coffee makers and toasters, plus tableware, bed linens, toys, fireworks, Christmas lights and kids' car seats. No tech, no batteries, no minerals. Separately, the two-month trade truce was extended to January 10. The corridor is where non-sensitive trade gets relief. Soybeans stay in the room as leverage.

$FXI The Xi visit ended Friday with a two-month extension of the tariff truce (to January 10) and a 30 billion dollar corridor on "non-sensitive" goods. The corridor's exclusion list is the tell: advanced chips, dual-use AI hardware, critical minerals and EV batteries are explicitly out. So the relief covers seafood, timber, holiday decorations and car seats, not the tech decoupling. The implementation record is mixed: Bessent says China is hitting the 25 million ton soybean requirement but lagging the 17 billion dollar other-ag pledge and short on rare-earth deliveries. China did commit to 10 million tons a year of US coal in 2027 and 2028.
