Litecoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency created by Charlie Lee. It was created based on the Bitcoin protocol but differs in terms of the hashing algorithm used. Litecoin uses the memory intensive Scrypt proof of work mining algorithm. Scrypt allows consumer-grade hardware such as GPU to mine those coins.  Why Litecoin? Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that has evolved from Bitcoin after its own popularity in the industry, this alternative, or ‘altcoin’ has emerged to allow investors to diversify their digital currency package, according to Investopedia. Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

Bitcoin Falls Below $110K As Fed Anxiety Grows, On Course To End ‘Uptober’ Streak

According to CME Group’s FedWatch tool, traders saw a 91% probability of a similar rate cut at the December FOMC meeting as well. However, the number was lower than the 94.4% odds the traders saw a day earlier, indicating that some investors are cautious.<blockquote>“End of day Fed jitters. Nothing more, nothing less. As per Bitwise, it is now the largest Solana ETF, with $217 million in assets under management.As per Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, the Bitwise Solana ETF’s first-day trading volume was also <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/EricBalchunas/status/1983265686991581385">the highest</a> for any ETF this year, even higher than the REX Osprey XRP ETF. Bitcoin, Major Cryptos Edge Lower Ahead Of Fed Decision — Bitwise Solana ETF Makes Blockbuster Debut

Bitcoin and major cryptocurrencies rallied in early trading on Monday after the U.S. and China agreed to a framework for a trade deal ahead of the meeting of the two countries' top leaders.The apex cryptocurrency rose nearly 4% to $116,049.79 at the time of writing, according to CoinMarketCap data. It, however, traded below an all-time high of $126,198.07, set on Oct. 6. Meanwhile, Ethereum gained 7.5% to $4,239.28 and XRP rose 1% to $2.63. Among other tokens, BNB rose 2.4%, while Solana and Dogecoin gained 5.8%, each.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Positive Trade Talks Set The Stage For Trump-Xi Meeting</h2>“We are moving forward to the final details of the type of agreement that the leaders can review and decide if they want to conclude together,” Jamieson Greer, the United States trade representative, said to reporters, according to a New York Times <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/10/26/us/trump-news#china-us-trade">report</a>. Greer was part of a team of negotiators who met with senior Chinese officials on the sidelines of an Association of Southeast Asian Nations meeting.As per the report, China’s top trade negotiator, Li Chenggang, described the talks between the two countries as “candid and in-depth discussions” on the trade deal, adding that the two sides had reached a “preliminary consensus.”The trade talks came ahead of the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, scheduled on Thursday in South Korea. Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies advanced on Monday, tracking gains in Asian stocks, as investors renewed bets on digital assets after recent weakness.The apex cryptocurrency advanced over 4% to $111,210.66, at time of writing, while Ethereum rose 4.5% to $4,058 and XRP gained 5.2% to $2.47. While BNB rose 3.7% to $1,125.16, Solana rose 3.8% to $193.07 and Dogecoin rose 6.5% to $0.20.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Why Are Cryptocurrencies Rising?</h2>The advances of digital assets come amid growing optimism around conservative Sanae Takaichi, who will likely become the next Prime Minister of Japan after securing the support of a key backer. According to a Reuters report, the co-operation agreement between Takaichi and Japan Innovation Party, known as Ishin, would deliver a combined 231 seats in parliament's dominant lower house.While the figure will still fall two short of a majority, but ensure Takaichi garners enough votes on Tuesday election to become the next prime minister. Takaichi is expected to carry forward “Abenomics,” named after former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe which focused on a dovish fiscal policy.Separately, the dollar index also edged lower, making Bitcoin more attractive for overseas buyers. Gold prices also pulled back, likely indicating growing flows to riskier assets such as equities and cryptocurrencies.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Is Retail Thinking?</h2>Retail sentiment on Stocktwits on Bitcoin was still in the ‘neutral’ territory at the time of writing.The gains come after heavy selloff in cryptocurrency ETFs last week on concerns over the trade tensions between U.S. and China. Bitcoin Moves Past $111,000 — Michael Saylor Hints At Further Buys

Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies advanced in early trading on Wednesday, tracking gains in global equities, as U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s comments bolstered rate cut bets.The apex cryptocurrency rose 0.4% to $112,626.22 at the time of writing, as per CoinMarketCap data. Ethereum rose 2,7% to $4,121.13 and XRP rose 1.5% to $2.50. Among other tokens, Solana rose 4% and Dogecoin rose 2.5%."Based on the data that we do have, it is fair to say that the outlook for employment and inflation does not appear to have changed much since our September meeting four weeks ago," Powell said on Tuesday. The Fed had lowered interest rates by 25 basis points in the previous meeting."Data available prior to the shutdown, however, show that growth in economic activity may be on a somewhat firmer trajectory than expected," he cautioned. However, the Fed, alongside other central banks, is likely to increase the supply of money in the near future, which is a positive driver for cryptocurrencies.Citi’s Stablecoin BetSeparately, Citigroup has invested in stablecoin infrastructure company BVNK, according to a CNBC report. Major cryptocurrencies edged lower on Wednesday, following strong gains this week amid a rise in the U.S. dollar.Bitcoin prices slipped to $121,336.94 after hitting an all-time high of $126,198.07 earlier this week. Ethereum prices dropped sharply to $4,439.67, while XRP found support at $2.85. Among other tokens, Solana and Cardano edged lower. Binance Coin (BNB), which replaced XRP as the third-most valuable cryptocurrency, pulled back toward $1,283.Bitcoin’s relative strength index, a key financial momentum indicator based on price changes, remained at approximately 72. A reading over 70 usually implies overbought conditions. Previously, Bitcoin prices have usually pulled back when RSI is elevated, primarily due to profit-taking. According to SoSoValue data, spot Bitcoin ETFs logged outflows of $23.8 million on Tuesday, following six consecutive days of inflows.Michael Saylor’s Strategy, which pioneered the concept of crypto treasuries, also fell 8.7%, tracking a decline of the apex cryptocurrency. Grayscale Investments on Monday announced the first crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that enable staking.The company said its Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF (<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETHE">ETHE</a>) and Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF (<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETH">ETH</a>) are the first U.S.-listed spot crypto ETPs to enable staking. ETHE, launched in July last year, is the second-largest spot Ethereum ETF in the US, behind BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA).&nbsp;The company also confirmed that the Grayscale Solana Trust (<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/GSOL">GSOL</a>) has activated staking. Pending regulatory approval for GSOL’s uplisting as an exchange-traded product, it is expected to become among the first spot Solana ETPs with staking functionality, Grayscale said.By staking a portion of its Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL) holdings, Grayscale provides exposure to ETH and SOL while generating network rewards. The firm will stake passively through institutional custodians and validator partners, supporting protocol security and long-term network health.Grayscale CEO Peter Mintzberg said the firm’s latest staking rollout for Ethereum and Solana funds shows its focus on staying ahead of the market. Grayscale said it plans to extend staking to additional products as the digital asset ecosystem evolves.While REX-Osprey offers a SOL ETF with native staking under the ‘40 Act, Grayscale’s Ethereum ETFs are the first U.S. spot crypto ETFs under the more common ‘33 Act to add staking, potentially setting a new precedent for Solana once GSOL converts.<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETH.X">Ethereum’s price</a> was trading at around $4,500 at the time of writing, up 0.5% in the last 24 hours, according to CoinGecko data. Grayscale Launches First US Crypto ETFs With Ethereum, Solana Staking

Among other altcoins, BNB was up 4.7% and Solana gained 2.5%.Following a damp September, Bitcoin and other digital currencies are experiencing a strong upward move as investor appetite has grown amid a delay in the release of U.S. jobs data. The Nasdaq and S&amp;P 500 futures were up despite the government shutdown entering its third day, with analysts noting that investors were still giving lawmakers time to resolve their differences.According to the CME Group’s FedWatch tool, futures traders have assigned a 97.8% probability for a 25-basis-point rate cut at the next Federal Open Market Committee meeting, scheduled for later this month.“The U.S. government shutdown is making markets thirsty for risk. So far this week, Bitcoin ETFs have seen net inflows of $2.25 billion, following $902 million in outflows the previous week.
