Ripple is the catchall name for the cryptocurrency platform, the transactional protocol for which is actually XRP, in the same fashion as Ethereum is the name for the platform that facilitates trades in Ether. Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. The community is very active in organising fundraising activities for deserving causes.  The developers of Dogecoin haven’t made any major changes to the coin since 2015. This means that Dogecoin could get left behind and is why Shibas are leaving Dogecoin to join more advanced platforms like Ethereum. One of Dogecoin strengths is its relaxed and fun-loving community. However, this is also a weakness because other currencies are way more professional. Figure Technology Solutions, which offers crypto trading and crypto-backed loans, has filed for an initial public offering of its shares on the New York Stock Exchange, according to a securities filing on Monday.Figure joins a growing list of crypto firms tapping public markets recently, encouraged by&nbsp;the market momentum and supportive policies under the Trump administration.The&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SPY">SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF (SPY)</a>,&nbsp;an exchange-traded fund that tracks the performance of the broader S&amp;P 500 gauge, has gained over 10% this year.&nbsp;Stablecoin issuer&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/CRCL">Circle</a> and trading platform&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/BLSH">Bullish</a> had strong debuts in recent months, while Winklevoss twins' crypto exchange, Gemini, filed for a New York IPO last week. Dow Futures Edge Lower As Wall Street Watches Out For PPI Report: BLSH, COHR, CSCO Among Stocks To Watch

While Dow Jones futures edged 0.01% lower at the time of writing, the S&P 500 futures slid 0.06%.

Cathie Wood’s Ark Investment Management bought 2.53 million shares of Bullish (BLSH) on Wednesday as the cryptocurrency exchange soared nearly 90% compared to its initial public offering price.The holdings were distributed among ARKK, ARKW, and ARKF ETFs. Wood usually invests in tech companies with potential for future growth, even if they trade at substantially higher prices, relative to the broader markets.Woods’s funds had also acquired thousands of shares of stablecoin issuer Circle Internet (CRCL) when the cryptocurrency firm made a <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/stablecoin-heavyweight-circle-s-stock-surges-168-in-blockbuster-trading-debut/chkzLTnRbxl">strong debut</a> at the New York Stock Exchange in June.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/BLSH">Bullish stock</a> began trading shortly after noon on Wednesday at $90 per share, more than double its IPO price of $37. Bullish (BLSH) shares&nbsp;surged 176%&nbsp;in their debut on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Wednesday, marking a&nbsp;strong&nbsp;public market entry for the Peter Thiel-led crypto exchange after raising $1.1 billion in an oversubscribed initial public offering.<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BLSH">BLSH stock</a>&nbsp;opened at $90 compared to its $37 IPO price, which was above the earlier expected range of $32 to $33 that valued the company at $5.4 billion. That range had already been raised from an initial plan to sell 20.3 million shares at $28 to $31 each, for about $629 million and a $4.2 billion valuation at the top end. The final offering sold 30 million shares, raising $1.1 billion for the company. Based on its opening price, Bullish has a market value of $13.2 billion. BLSH shares climbed to $102.4 before trading was halted. After trading resumed, the shares surged as much as 207% before paring gains, trading 162% higher at the time of writing.
