Braskem bondholders are rejecting the petrochemical company’s latest restructuring proposal, increasing pressure on Petrobras to commit fresh capital, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Negotiations over Braskem’s roughly $11 billion debt have intensified after controlling shareholders Petrobras and IG4 Capital Group softened language on a potential capital injection. Under the latest proposal, creditors would provide about $2 billion in new funding, with $1.25 billion used to repurchase existing debt at up to 50% of face value and $750 million allocated to working capital. The plan differs from earlier discussions, which did not include a debt haircut. Creditors are demanding a binding shareholder commitment to inject capital, with some saying there will be no agreement without it. Petrobras wants to avoid a bankruptcy filing but has resisted making the commitment sought by creditors. $BAK $PBR
