China’s leaders have vowed to curb aggressive price cuts by domestic companies, saying the practice has fueled excessive competition that threatens the health of the $19 trillion economy.&nbsp;The “anti-involution” campaign, launched in response to industrial overcapacity left by past stimulus policies, targets price wars that regulators warn could entrench deflation and undermine growth, according to a Reuters&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/what-is-involution-chinas-race-to-the-bottom-competition-trend-2025-09-14/">report</a>.&nbsp;“Involution,” or neijuan, became a buzzword in 2020 to describe the exhausting cycle of hyper-competition with little reward. In China’s economy, it has come to symbolize industries investing heavily without meaningful returns, signaling a race to the bottom that policymakers now fear is destabilizing employment and profits.Data released by China’s National Bureau of Statistics last week showed that consumer prices fell at the fastest pace in six months due to volatility in food price but the decline in producer prices slowed, a separate Reuters report&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/world/china/chinas-producer-deflation-eases-helped-by-crackdown-price-wars-2025-09-10/">said.</a> "Effects of 'anti-involution' that started in June-July are starting to be felt," said Xu Tianchen, senior economist at the Economist Intelligence Unit, the report added.The sectors most exposed include electric vehicles, solar panels, lithium batteries, steel, cement and food delivery. Analysts calculate that China’s 2024 solar capacity alone could cover global demand through 2032, highlighting the scale of the glut.In food delivery, giants Alibaba, JD.com and Meituan have spent billions in subsidies to dominate the one-hour “instant retail” segment. Regulators are targeting industries from EVs and solar to food delivery as price wars slash margins, deepen deflation risks, and put jobs at stake across China’s economy.

Tesla could be looking at a $1 trillion boost from artificial intelligence and self-driving technology, Wedbush analysts said, predicting the company’s robotaxi network will reach 30 to 35 U.S. cities within the next year.&nbsp;The stock ended Friday at $395.94, not far from its 52-week high of $488.54.Daniel Ives and his team at Wedbush kept their ‘Outperform’ rating on the stock and set a 12-month target of $500, which points to about 26% upside. They believe Tesla’s market value could climb to $2 trillion by mid-2026 as it pushes deeper into autonomous driving and AI.&nbsp;“Musk is driving this vision and is now in a wartime CEO mode which is music to the ears of Tesla bulls with this AI Arms Race happening across the tech world,” the analysts wrote.The report said Elon Musk’s new incentive-driven pay package, which grants an additional 423 million shares, was a relief for investors by securing his role as chief executive until at least 2030. The award could raise Musk’s ownership to about 25% voting power. Wedbush described Musk as Tesla’s most important asset and said the board made the smart and right move to keep him at the helm.The analysts added that the political backdrop could support faster progress, forecasting that a second Trump White House would likely accelerate Tesla’s efforts as federal regulators take more control of autonomous driving rules, reducing the patchwork of state-level authority. They noted that Trump wants the U.S. to stay ahead of China in the AI race and sees autonomous vehicles as a key factor, with Tesla playing a central role.Wedbush pointed to the launch of Tesla’s planned Cybercab service and broader adoption of its Full Self-Driving software as the real “golden goose” for Elon Musk and his team. The firm expects revenue to decline to approximately $92.3 billion in 2025, from $97.7 billion in 2024, but anticipates a rebound to $108.1 billion in 2026. He added that they would be “impressed” by the vehicle’s network architecture, ECU layout and electrical systems, which were designed to scale from VW’s entry-level models to Porsche and Audi flagships.R2 Autonomy&nbsp;To Leap Beyond HighwaysScaringe also spotlighted Rivian’s own product pipeline, led by the $45,000 R2 five-passenger SUV. While Rivian already offers hands-free driving on highways, he said the next step is “hands-free everywhere,” followed by “eyes-off” operation and eventually turn-by-turn autonomy.&nbsp;He said that&nbsp;the shift represents “something like a 50x increase in the number of roads that the vehicle is going to be able to drive on, driving itself.”The company plans to hold an event at the end of the year to showcase its autonomy technology, including hardware details, its compute and perception stack, and demonstrations of the system in operation.Scaringe forecast that hands-free driving on all roads will expand next year, with “eyes-off” autonomy targeted for 2027–2028. The S&amp;P 500 added 0.9% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.4%, helping lift Tesla alongside.The rally highlighted Tesla’s unique position as the priciest stock among the “Magnificent Seven.” It trades at nearly 140 times projected 2026 earnings, far above the group’s average of about 29 times. That premium has long made Tesla one of Wall Street’s most divisive names, with analyst price targets stretching across nearly a 100% range, according to a Barron's&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.barrons.com/articles/tesla-stock-price-today-3bd128da">report</a>.&nbsp;Short Sellers Stay PutTesla’s high valuation has also kept short sellers interested. Nissan Motor is overhauling its aging lineup and accelerating product launches as it struggles with its worst financial crisis in a quarter century.&nbsp;The Japanese automaker aims to cut development times for new models to 37 months from more than 50, part of efforts to regain competitiveness in the global market, Bloomberg&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-10/nissan-ceo-wants-to-launch-new-cars-faster-to-speed-turnaround">reported</a>, citing an interview with CEO Ivan Espinosa at the company’s Yokohama headquarters.Espinosa, who took charge in March, said Nissan is “shortening the development process significantly” to react more quickly to shifting trends. He noted efforts begun 18 months ago are bearing fruit, with lessons drawn from competitive markets like China, where EV makers such as BYD dominate.Nissan has refreshed its Leaf EV and a kei mini-car, with new versions of the Elgrand minivan and Kicks crossover on the way.&nbsp;Once an EV pioneer with the Leaf, the world’s first mass-market electric car, Nissan has since lost ground to Tesla and Chinese rivals. Espinosa said the company is determined to recover lost momentum by quickening its release cycle.In the U.S., the company will launch a redesigned Sentra later this year and a plug-in hybrid Rogue in early 2026. July sales in China rose 22% on demand for the N7 electric sedan, while U.S. sales slipped despite resilient overall demand under Trump’s tariffs.Meanwhile, talks to merge with Honda collapsed, and Nissan’s partnership with key shareholder Renault remains complicated, leaving the company to pursue a turnaround on its own. In May, it announced plans to cut 20,000 jobs and close seven factories worldwide.The carmaker faces 180 billion yen ($1.2 billion) in projected operating losses for April–September and more than 5 billion dollars in debt maturing next year. Nissan CEO Vows Faster Launches After Honda Merger Collapse As Tesla, BYD Race Ahead Amid Worst Crisis In 25 Years

Mounting debt, factory closures, and asset sales underline the scale of Nissan’s turnaround challenge.

Wells Fargo analyst Colin Langan said on Wednesday that the available Tesla Inc. (TSLA) August sales data remains weak, despite the end of the U.S. federal tax credit on EV purchases on September 30.Of the three major markets it tracks, Wells Fargo said that August Tesla deliveries are trending down 9% year-over-year, although they are 37% higher month-over-month.Despite the month-over-month increase, Q3 deliveries are still at risk compared to consensus, the firm added, according to TheFly. Wells Fargo has an ‘Underweight’ rating on the shares with a price target of $120, implying a downside of about 65% from the stock’s closing price on Tuesday.On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/TSLA">TSLA stock</a> jumped from ‘neutral’ to ‘bullish’ territory over the past 24 hours while message volume stayed at ‘high’ levels. In Q3 2024, Tesla reported 462,890 vehicle deliveries.U.S. federal tax credit of $7,500 on new EV purchases, as well as the $4,000 credit on used EV purchases, are set to expire on September 30. Tesla is currently urging customers to take delivery by September 30, while adding that it has limited inventory available. Tesla <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/tesla-sales-decline-14-percent-in-q2-fall-for-2nd-consecutive-quarter/chF0N8PRTuS">reported</a> a year-on-year decline in vehicle deliveries in both the first and second quarters of this year.The company is currently trying to shift its focus toward artificial intelligence and robotics with investments in self-driving taxis and humanoid robots.
