OpenText is gaining investor attention following its strategic partnership with Cohere, announced earlier this week. The companies said at the ALL IN AI conference in Montreal that they will combine OpenText’s enterprise data-management capabilities with Cohere’s North agentic AI platform and models, targeting governments and regulated industries seeking to move agentic AI deployments from pilots into full production. The partnership includes joint product development, integration of Cohere’s AI models and orchestration platform into OpenText’s Aviator AI agents, coordinated go-to-market efforts and a strategic resale agreement through SOLEX. This will allow OpenText to offer Cohere-powered solutions both on-premises and through OpenText Cloud. CEO Ayman Antoun emphasized that enterprise data provides the context needed for agentic AI to operate effectively. $OTEX $COHEZZX.P

$OTEX The maths are really very simple for OTEX investors - figure out where the 3B+ they spent on MicrFocus went. By any reckoning the terms of the acquisition and subsequent piecemeal sell off of the tiny fraction that had any real value leaves OT with a $3B “AI” solution - Aviator - that isn’t making them anywhere near enough money to even service the debt. To the person who said they have great AI, that’s laughable- they are so far behind and it’s all hype and coattails, nothing under the cover. This story ends poorly for investors, you should really look at their longer history of performance if the takeaway is they are not a growth stock. Once you realize that a couple of washed up execs from Canada’s finest tech companies are supposed to turnaround a global software company with a massive debt load to service, is that a wise investment?
