$MGN Less than an hour remains until the RTH. Once it starts, the ticker will likely be included in the SSR list instantly, as a stock becomes eligible for the SSR once its price drops more than 10% from the previous close during the RTH session, even if it increases afterward. This means shorts will not be able to fill the National Best Bids to sell, which may have a double-whammy effect on them: First, it makes new shorting harder; second, and probably more important (as there are likely many open short positions), existing shorts who want to cover can't rely on new shorts to fill their bids until the weekend after today's RTH starts, as the SSR also covers the consecutive day after it is triggered. As new shorts try to sell short via asks and existing shorts try to cover by filling those asks, short selling will shift from liquidity-taking at the bid to liquidity-providing above the NBB.
