$GEN Didn't $8.7B avast acquisition brought it down to 17ish which took 2 years to recover? this one is $12B in different domain (pun intended). at least avast was core to their domain.

$GEN 8.7b avast acquisition took them years to merge and still don't have 1 + 1 > 2. yet another 12-13b purchase. they are repeating symantec who outside of Norton could not get any acquisition to work.

$GEN Friday's hot stock: Gen Digital +5.6% to 22.02 on the beat-and-raise. Adjusted EPS 71 cents vs 69 expected, revenue 1.34B vs 1.31B expected, up 6.3% YoY. Full-year EPS guide lifted to 2.87 to 2.97. The part worth a second look: this is quietly a rollup story. CEO Pilette said this week that six years ago Gen did 2B in revenue and under a dollar of EPS. Now it's over 5B in revenue and nearly 3 dollars of EPS. He even had to address GoDaddy acquisition rumors this week. A 12.5B market-cap antivirus rollup being asked about buying GoDaddy tells you how far the math has run.

$GEN Listen to the CFO for last many quarterly calls and see how she talks about getting the debt down. Then, they throw in this. Bottom line is that company does not have the skills to build things organically. So, acquire, upsell/xsell, and grow is the only play they have.
