$CRK Comstock Resources signed a framework agreement with Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR on Sept 28: a 1.65 billion investment in Comstock's Haynesville shale gas assets (company release). The structure is the read. SOCAR takes minority interests in the Legacy and Western Haynesville acreage plus a stake in Pinnacle Gas Services. Comstock keeps operating control, and plans to use the proceeds to cut pro forma net debt to about 1.5 billion from 3.1 billion. The other half is LNG: SOCAR gets to explore marketing Haynesville gas internationally, using its own LNG footprint. Framework, not a deal yet. Definitive agreement expected by Oct 31, close targeted by year end. The tension: Q2 revenue was 353.3 million, down 24.9% YoY and 15.7% below consensus; EPS 3 cents beat the 2 cent estimate. Fourteen analysts rate it Reduce (MarketBeat). The funding fixes the balance sheet. The gas has to do the rest.

$CRK Why is the short % so high. Sure, It is not at the 52 week low but it is 60% from the 52 week high. Nat gas as of yesterday was below 3 and probably not going much lower but there is a chance nat gas will go much higher. .
