META looks like the monkey-and-cap story: the market sees a shiny new AI/OpenClaw-style capability, assumes Meta has discovered the next killer monetization engine, and bids the stock up. Then reality arrives.
Meta may have integrated similar technology into its Muse/AI ecosystem, but having the technology is not the same as monetizing it. The market may be pricing in a lead over OpenAI and Anthropic before there is evidence of durable revenue.
The hard question is monetization. Free-app downloads ≠ recurring revenue. Meta can't convert AI engagement into sustainable economics like Goggles.
And the competitive pressure isn't going away:
•
$AMZN — e-commerce/commerce AI competition
•
$AAPL — privacy constraints and ecosystem control
•
$GOOGL — frontier-model competition
Meta could still generate money from AI infrastructure spending, including benefiting from AMD's MI450 ramp
My view: META can revisit the prior high if the market keeps rewarding the AI narrative.
